Eucalyptus diminuta is a eucalypt that is native to Western Australia.[1]

Description

The mallee or tree typically grows to a height of 1.7 to 5 metres (6 to 16 ft). It blooms between July and November and produces white-cream flowers.[1]

Classification

The species was first formally identified by the botanists Ian Brooker and Stephen Hopper in 2002 in the journal Nuytsia. The type specimen was collected by Brooker in 1985 about 5 kilometres (3 mi) north east of Binnu.[2]

It is part of the Eucalyptus subgenus Symphyomyrtus in the section Bisectae and the subsection Glandulosae. It is closely related to Eucalyptus stowardii.[2]

The species name diminuta is latin word diminutus meaning diminished referring to the small habit, buds and fruits.[2]

Distribution

It is found on sandplains and near swamps along the west coast in the Mid West and Wheatbelt regions of Western Australia where it grows over laterite in sandy clay or sandy soils.[1]
