Etty Tantri

Eti Lesmina Tantra, also known as Etty Tantri (Chinese: 蒂·坦蒂; pinyin: Dì·tǎn dì, born 14 October 1975), is an Indonesian badminton player of Chinese descent. She has represented Indonesia and the United States in international tournaments.

Career

Etty and Cynthia Tuwankotta won the French Open in 1997, becoming the first Indonesians to win a women's doubles title. That same year, they also won the Polish Open.[1] Etty and Cynthia Tuwankotta were bronze medallists at the 1999 Badminton Asia Championships after losing to Ge Fei and Gu Jun. She was a gold medallist for the Indonesian Women's and Women's Doubles team (with Tuwankotta) at the 1999 Southeast Asian Games. Etty competed in women's doubles at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney with Tuwankotta, but they were eliminated in the quarterfinals, defeated by Ge Fei and Gu Jun. Etty and Minarti Timur were runners-up in women's doubles at the 2000 Asian Badminton Championships after losing to Lee Hyo-jung and Yim Kyung-jin. In mixed doubles, she won the 1997 Polish Open with Flandy Limpele. She also won mixed doubles at the 2002 and 2003 U.S Open with Tony Gunawan.

Personal life

Etty married Tony Gunawan, a 2000 Olympic Games men's doubles gold medallist, on the 29th of July 2002 at the Monte Carlo Chapel in Las Vegas. They have two sons, Christopher and Leon.
