Erling Braut Håland (born 21 July 2000), anglicised to Haaland, is a Norwegian footballer who plays as a striker for Molde in Eliteserien.[1] He is a Norway U21's international.

Club career

Bryne

He joined the academy of Bryne FK. During the 2015-16 season, Håland played for the reserve side Bryne FK 2 where he impressed scoring 18 goals in 14 games.[2] His performances for the Reserve side led him to his senior debut, 15 years of age, Håland made his Bryne debut on 12 May 2016 in an OBOS-ligaen match against Ranheim.[3] Whilst at Bryne, he also had an unsuccessful trial at German Bundesliga side TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, Håland played 16 games for Bryne.[4]

Molde

On 1 February 2017, Molde FK announced the signing of Erling Braut Håland.[5] Håland made his debut on 26 April 2017 in the Norwegian Cup match against Volda TI. His league debut came on 4 June 2017 when he came in as a substitute in the 71st minute against Sarpsborg 08. He received a yellow card after 65 seconds on the pitch.[6] He scored his first goal for Molde in his debut in the 3–2 win against Volda TI on 26 April 2017 in the Norwegian Cup.[7] Håland scored the winner in the 77th minute, a goal which was his first Eliteserien goal.

On 1 July 2018, Håland scored 4 goals against Brann within the first 21 minutes of the game, securing his team a 4–0 away win over the unbeaten league leaders at the time. The hat-trick was scored in 11 minutes and 2 seconds and all four goals in 17 minutes and 4 seconds. A Manchester United scout was present at the match.[8] Molde FK Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the game compared Håland style of play to Romelu Lukaku and revealed the club had rejected several bids for Håland from different clubs.[9]

In the following game on 8 July, Håland continued his scoring run when he scored two goals and gained an assist in the 5–1 victory against Vålerenga.[10] Håland scored in Molde's 3–0 UEFA Europa League victory against KF Laçi in a 3–0 win on 26 July.[11]

Red Bull Salzburg

On 19 August 2018 Red Bull Salzburg announced that Håland would join the club on 1 January 2019, signing a five-year contract.[12]

International career

Håland has represented Norway at various age groups. He currently represents Norway U19's.[13] On 27 March 2018, he scored a hattrick against Scotland U19's in a 5–4 victory for Norway U19's to help Norway top the Under 19's Euro 2018 qualification Group.[14]

On 22 July 2018, Håland scored for Norway U19's in a 1–1 draw against Italy U19 in the 2018 UEFA European Under-19 Championship's, after an equaliser from Italian Moise Kean.[15]

Personal life

Håland is the son of former Leeds United and Manchester City defender Alf-Inge Håland.[16] Håland is also a Leeds United supporter.[17]
