Erica Anabella Farias (born on July 13, 1984, in Virreyes, Buenos Aires), known as "La Pantera", is an Argentine boxer. She is the current WBC female super lightweight champion and former WBC female lightweight champion.
Boxing career
Farias made her competitive debut as an amateur on December 10, 2005, against Carolina Lopez. At the 2006 World Women's Boxing Championship contested in New Delhi, India, Farias was defeated by Katie Taylor of Ireland in the 60 kg final.
Farias made her professional debut on July 25, 2009, at Estadio F.A.B. in Buenos Aires. She won a four-round unanimous decision over the hard-charging but less skilled Betiana Patricia Viñas. Farias won her fight against Ann Saccurato in 2011, after it was stopped in the 8th round due to an accidental head-butt.[1]
On April 4, 2014, Farias made the twelfth defense of her WBC lightweight title against Delfine Persoon. She lost in a ten-round unanimous decision.[2]
Farias won her second world title, WBC light welterweight, on November 15, 2014, defeating Alejandra Oliveras by split decision.[3] On May 2, 2015, she made her first defense of her title against Klara Svensson.[4] She won by unanimous decision.[5]
On June 9, 2017, Farias challenged undisputed welterweight champion Cecilia Brækhus, but lost by unanimous decision.
