Elinor Greer Constable (born 1934)[1] is a diplomat and former United States Ambassador to Kenya (1986–89).[2] She was nominated for the position by Ronald Reagan.[3]
She graduated from Wellesley College and speaks Spanish and Urdu.[4] Before becoming ambassador, she had a career as a Foreign Service officer.[3] After leaving her post as ambassador, she was Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs from 1993 to 1995.[2] She is a member of the American Academy of Diplomacy.[4] She was married to the late Peter Dalton Constable, former Director General of the Multinational Force and Observers in the Sinai Peninsula and for ambassador to Zaire.[5] She has served on the Board of Directors of Search for Common Ground since 2000.
