Edmund Goodwyn

Edmund Goodwyn, M.D. (1756–1829) was an English medical writer.

Works

He discovered the diving reflex and published:

  • Dissertatio Medica de morte Submersorum, Edinburgh, 1786.
  • The Connexion of Life with Respiration; or an Experimental Inquiry into the Effects of Submersion, Strangulation, and several kinds of Noxious Airs on Living Animals … and the most effectual means of cure, London, 1788, (a translation of No. 1). Philadelphia edition, 1805.
