Don't Blame Me (song)
"Don't Blame Me" is a popular song with music by Jimmy McHugh and lyrics by Dorothy Fields. The song was part of the 1932 show Clowns in Clover. It was published in 1933 and popular versions that year were by Ethel Waters; Guy Lombardo; and Charles Agnew.[1] It became a #21 hit for Nat King Cole in 1948.[2]
The song received two significant "rock era" remakes: a mellow ballad version by the Everly Brothers, released by Warner Bros. Records in 1961, which reached #20 on Billboard; and an up-tempo version recorded by Frank Ifield which reached #8 of the UK charts on 15 February 1964.[3] It was also featured in the musical Sugar Babies.

- Perry Como's earliest known recording of the song was broadcast Monday, May 3, 1943 from New York City as part of the show Columbia Presents Perry Como.[11] Later Perry Como recorded the song as part of one of his Chesterfield Supper Club programs sometime 1945-1946, which was rebroadcast by the AFRS as AFRS Supper Club #283.[12] A rendition is also included on the album At the Supper Club recorded May 1946.

- Kate Smith sang this song in her November 2, 1963 concert at Carnegie Hall, accompanied by Skitch Henderson on piano. This song was included on the RCA Victor recording of the concert.

- Ella Fitzgerald recorded this song on her 1968 Columbia album, 30 By Ella.
- Thelonious Monk recorded a solo piano version which can be found on the album, Thelonious Monk Paris 1969.
