Dipadih

Dipahdih is an archaeological place of Chhattisgarh. It is about 73 km from Ambikapur, headquarters of Surguja. It is an important historical place located in Balrampur district, Chhattisgarh.

The hewed remains of statues and temples have been found by the excavation of archaeological department. Some of the archaeological sites are Samant Sarna, Urao Tila or mound, Borja Tila or mound, Rani Pokhara, Chamuda temple and Panchayatan temple.

Most of the temples and statues were dedicated to Lord Shiva, but other statues of Vishnu and Durga indicate that there would be harmony among the Shaiva sect, Vaishnav sect and Shakt sect.

A unique statue of Lord Brahma is also found from Dipadih, who hasn't beard and mustaches. According to the legend, there was a massive palace of Lord Rama. It is also believed that there were 360 ponds and 360 temples.

The architecture of temples and statues of Dipadih is one of the best specimen of prosperous sculpture and art. The place introduces the glorious past of Chhattisgarh.
