Deal or No Deal (South Africa)

In 2007, M-Net South Africa began a version of Deal or No Deal. The show premiered on 4 February 2007, and airs every Sunday at 6PM. South Africa is only the second country in Africa to get its own version of the show, after Tunisia (where it airs on El Hiwar Ettounsi). Radio personality/musician Ed Jordan hosts the show.

The M-Net website reveals that the set is similar to that of the US version, and the values go from as little as one cent to as big as R1,000,000 (one million rand, about US$130,000, 106,000, and £72,000). The board in this version is similar to the USA one, but in Rand and there is an R2,500 value with R400,000 value removed.

R0.01 R1,000
R1 R2,500
R5 R5,000
R10 R10,000
R25 R25,000
R50 R50,000
R75 R75,000
R100 R100,000
R200 R200,000
R300 R300,000
R400 R500,000
R500 R750,000
R750 R1,000,000

On the first episode, the contestant accepted the banker's final offer of R255,000 when the two remaining cases contained R500,000 and R1,000. Thus the final offer was more than the expected value, something that is seen rarely, if not never, on the foreign versions. The contestants case ended up containing R1,000.

Deal or No Deal USA visits South Africa

The US version of Deal or No Deal visited South Africa in early 2008, to tape a special episode as part of the show's ongoing World Tour. In this special edition, all elements of the South African version were used, except that the game was played by American rules, using American money and contestants. Ed Jordan joined US host Howie Mandel as co-host. This special episode aired on the American NBC network on 14 May 2008. This episode was the last stop on the Deal or No Deal world tour, but was the second stop to be taped. M-Net aired the special episode later.

Music

This version used the same package as the American version by The Groove Addicts. Additionally, the opening theme of this show is "I've Got Your Number" by Ed Jordan.
