Dilan Jayasingha, (formerly DeLon) professionally known as Dilan Jay, is an American actor, producer, singer, and writer from Los Angeles, California. He was the first artist from his country of heritage (Sri Lanka) to place on the U.S. Billboard Charts and had a #1 on MTV’s Most Popular Music Video’s. Dilan, under his pseudonym, DeLon is know by his community as the “King of Ceylon”, and has also collaborated with American songwriter Jacob Luttrell, Ty$Sign, and other prominent producers in Sri Lanka.

Dilan starred in Hollow Point an action film directed by Daniel Zirilli and released an EP named 3.14.

Early life and education

At the age of 12, Dilan first started learning to DJ for local parties and clubs around his hometown of Pasadena, CA. DJ'ing gave Dilan the chance to study music and gain a stronger perspective of how people responded to certain beats and melodies.

At the age of 18, Dilan began writing and producing his own music and improving his musical, performing and entertainment skills by regularly attending local rap competitions. After his graduation from college, he travelled multiple countries gathering musical, spiritual and general knowledge from all over the world.

Dilan was in Sri Lanka durning the Tsunami in Sri Lanka in 2004; After this experience he was determined to shed light and positivity to worldly atrocities of famine, and racial and cultural injustices. Dilan always brings unity and consciousness to the forefront through music. Utilizing his multi-cultural knowledge and identity, Dilan fuses honest lyrics with catchy hooks to create a unique style. Dilan strives to influence ways of thinking and create a change through his music and film.

Music career

Something Out Of Nothing (S.O.N.) (2011)

On November 28, 2011 Dilan under pseudonym DeLon released, Something Out of Nothing (S.O.N.) which showcased collaborations with other artists. "You Got Me" features rapper/singer producer Tydolla$ign (Toot It & Boot It), while the anthem "Come Alive" features a collaboration with singer/songwriter Daniel Luttrell. The album features a mix of funky electronic tracks, upbeat melodies and hip-hop lyrics about growing up, falling in love and chasing your dreams. DeLon’s upcoming album is similar to this style, but will take S.O.N. to a completely different level.

This kind of musical innovation, combining a hip-hop performance with a DJ set, allowed DeLon to start touring internationally, from South Asia to the UK. In 2012, DeLon was an official artist at South by Southwest, the second largest music festival in the United States.

Awake (2016)

On April 29th, 2016, Dilan under pseudonym, DeLon began revamping his musical style and image, while maintaining his loyalty to his fans and home country of Sri Lanka. His music has seen a transformation from underground, urban hip-hop to a unique blend of singing over rapping, combining elements of pop, house, dubstep, and hip-hop. This was Dilan’s last rap album under pseudonym DeLon. This album was produced and written by Dilan and was an expression of where he felt hip-hop was at the time and how it’s change has led him out of hip-hop.

3.14 (2018)

On July 28, 2018, Dilan released his debut singing album. Mostly written by Dilan and produced by Sean Hurely the bassist for John Mayer on his Born and Raised album. Dilan has transformed his past knowledge of music into a singing EP that has changed his whole way of looking at music. The 3.14 EP is an honest portrayal of life and living.
