Dayton Independent School District

Dayton Independent School District is a public school district based in Dayton, Texas (USA).

The district serves the cities of Dayton, Dayton Lakes, Kenefick, and some unincorporated areas including Eastgate, Stilson, and the northern half of Old River-Winfree. A very small portion of the district lies in neighboring Harris County.

In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency.[1]

Former Dayton ISD trustee John Otto has since 2005 held the District 18 seat in the Texas House of Representatives, which encompasses Liberty, San Jacinto, and Walker counties.

High schools

Intermediate Schools

  • Woodrow Wilson Junior High (Grades 6-8)
The school, "Nottingham Middle School" is no longer the middle school of Dayton, Texas due to changes the middle school has now transferred to "Woodrow Wilson Junior High

Elementary schools

  • Kimmie M. Brown Elementary (Grades K-5)
  • Dr. E.R. Richter Elementary (Grades K-5)
  • Stephen F. Austin Elementary (Grades K-5)
  • Colbert Elementary (Pre-Kindergarten)


Due to changes in the zoning areas all three elementary schools are now Kindergarten through 5th grade.
