David Corporon is a fictional character and an ally of Superman that appears in comic books published by DC Comics.
Publication history
David Corporon first appeared in Superman Vol. 3 #4 (February 2012) as part of The New 52 (a reboot of the DC Comics universe) and was created by writer George Pérez and artist Jesus Merino. He is based on a real person that George has been friends with for a number of years. David Corporon (the real person (same name)) is the co-owner of Smash! Comics and Games in the Seminole Towne Center Mall in Sanford, Florida. This is the shop that George Perez frequents and often does signings at.
Fictional character biography
In the current version of the Superman mythos, David Corporon is depicted as the Commissioner of the Metropolis Police Department. Corporon shares Superman's steadfast determination to rid Metropolis of crime and considers Superman his partner in this crusade. Further information on the character's back story will be revealed in later issues. In his earlier career as a member of the Metropolis Police Department, Corporon considered Commissioner James Gordon of the Gotham City Police Department to be his inspiration.
