The Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) is an agency of the United States Department of Homeland Security. Under the direction of the Under Secretary of Homeland Security for Intelligence and Analysis, I&A is responsible for developing DHS-wide intelligence through managing the collection, analysis and fusion of intelligence throughout the entire Department. I&A disseminates intelligence throughout DHS, to the other members of the United States Intelligence Community, and to first responders at the state, local, and tribal level.

Overview

The Office tracks terrorists and their networks as well as assess threats to critical American infrastructures, bio- and nuclear terrorism, pandemic diseases, threats to the borders (air, land, and sea) of the United States, and radicalization within American society.

To achieve its mission, the Office focuses on four principal areas:

  • Improving the quality and quantity of its analysis
  • Integrating the intelligence elements of the Department
  • Sharing threat information and assessments with state and local governments and the private sector
  • Ensuring the Department is an effective member of the United States Intelligence Community
