The brown lory (Chalcopsitta duivenbodei), also called Duyvenbode's lory, is a species of parrot in the family Psittaculidae. The scientific name commemorates Maarten Dirk van Renesse van Duivenbode (1804-1878), Dutch trader of naturalia on Ternate.
It is found in northern New Guinea. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.

Taxonomy
The brown lory species contains two subspecies:[2]
Chalcopsitta duivenbodei Dubois 1884
- Chalcopsitta duivenbodei duivenbodei Dubois, 1884
- Chalcopsitta duivenbodei syringanuchalis Neumann, 1915
Description
The brown lory has a black beak, yellow-streaked face, white tail and mostly dark brown plumage.
