Camilla Gervide

Camilla Gervide (born 17 November 1980) is a Swedish blogger, one of Sweden's foremost bloggers and was the writer of Scandinavia's foremost music blog a decade ago. She now runs a blog where she summarizes the lives of Swedish celebrities that has approximately 170,000 unique page views a week and is among the ten most read private bloggers in Sweden according to Bloggportalen.

Education and career

Gervide was born in Småland and graduated from Åkrahällskola in Nybro in 1999. Immediately afterwards, she moved to California, where she lived in the state capital, Sacramento, for two and a half years, among other things studying opera.

However, she began her musical career in 1993 by participating in Lilla Melodifestivalenat the time it was called Söndagsfestivalen (the Sunday Festival) and was a part of the television programme Söndagsöppet. She and her group Playing Angels DC finished fourth; they were the only contestants who wrote their own material.

After being signed as a model to unknown model agency, she moved to Los Angeles, where in addition to modelling, she appeared in music videos to unknown artists and TV programmes before starting to study singing at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood in 2003. In 2005 she was chosen "Outstanding Student of the year" in connection with her final examination, and was at the same time accepted into the college's course of study in piano .

While studying at the Musicians Institute, Gervide also worked as a studio musician for, among others, David Foster, That '70s Show, American Idol and Celine Dion and wrote the signature tune for the documentary Tille's resa which was shown on TV4 in Sweden. She also won one of the biggest songwriting contests in Los Angeles, with the jury including record labels such as Sony, Universal, Columbia and Warner.

She also has training in analogue recording techniques from Kulturama.

Since returning to Sweden, Gervide has worked for Nyheter24, Sveriges Television, Nyhetsmorgon, Digster Magazine, Erwik Show, VeckoRevyn, Frida, Maybelline and Tunigo. She also has a job in copyright.

Blog

She started blogging in 1999 when she went to the USA, but on more private topics and at an address on Blogspot that is no longer accessible. In 2010, she began to blog seriously about music, among other things putting up clips of her own music, since she is fundamentally a musician. This attracted the attention of various recording companies, who began to contact her with requests for interviews and concert reviews. Artists she has interviewed include Jennifer Lopez, Trey Songz, Rasmuss Seebach, Molly Sandén, Marie Serneholt, Natasha Bedingfield, Chris Medina, Adam Lambert, Oskar Linnros, Sarah Dawn Finer, Chris Daughtry, David Lindgren, Moa Lignell, Adrian Lux, The Soundtrack of Our Lives, Albin Gromer, Andreas Lundstedt, Love Generation, Eric Saade, Cher Lloyd, Skylar Grey and Ailucrash.

Since 2016 she has run the blog 'Bloggbevakning', which has been wildly criticized as its content is mostly snide remarks where Gervide makes fun of other, more famous, people on social media. This blog is what Gervide is known for in Sweden.

Recognition

In 2012, she was nominated for Blogger of the Year at the VeckoRevyn Blog Awards. She lost to Molly Sandén, which resulted in very critical comments, mostly made by Gervide herself, to the magazine, since in Gervide's view Sandén does not blog but has simply linked her Instagram account to her blog. She received support from many quarters, since many criticised the fact that the majority of the winning bloggers were VeckoRevyn's own bloggers.
