Callophrys rosneri, the Rosner's hairstreak, is a butterfly of the family Lycaenidae. It is found in western North America in British Columbia.[1] and Washington state. Subspecies C. r. plicataria is known as Barry's hairstreak.
The larvae of subspecies C. r. rosneri feed on western red cedar (Thuja plicata),[1] while the larvae of subspecies C. r. plicataria feed on Rocky Mountain juniper (Juniperus scopulorum).
Subspecies
- C. r. rosneri – Rosner's hairstreak (interior ranges of British Columbia)
- C. r. plicataria Johnson, 1976 – Barry's hairstreak (Vancouver Island and Coast Range of British Columbia, Washington)
Taxonomy
Both C. r. rosneri and C. r. plicataria are often treated as subspecies of Callophrys gryneus. Callophrys barryi is a synonym of C. r. plicataria.[2]
