Breagh MacKinnon is a Canadian singer/songwriter based in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Launching her career as a solo artist, MacKinnon in 2015 formed the pop band Port Cities with musicians Dylan Guthro and Carleton Stone.

Life and career

Born into a musical family, MacKinnon began playing piano at age six.[1] She played in her high school band and began writing songs herself at age 16.[1] In college, at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia, she majored in jazz piano performance.[2]

MacKinnon's first recording was a self-titled EP, released in 2010.[3] She released her debut album in 2012, entitled Where the Days Went. It was praised by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as being intricate,[4] and was nominated for an East Coast Music Association (ECMA) award.[1]

In 2013, MacKinnon was a regional finalist in the Mountain Stage NewSong Contest, and performed in the live competition finals at Lincoln Center in New York City.[5]

In 2015, MacKinnon teamed up with fellow singer-songwriters Dylan Guthro and Carleton Stone to form the band Port Cities.[6] In 2016, the band was signed to turtlemusik/Warner Music; their debut album was released on February 10, 2017.[7]
