Brandon Academy Private School, or simply "Brandon Academy" or "BA," is a coeducational private day school located on a 10-acre (40,000 m2)[3] campus on Limona Road in Brandon, Florida. The school enrolls students in pre-kindergarten through 11th grade and offers an IB program for students in 11th and 12th grade.[2]
As of February 2018, the school occupies ten buildings, including four school buildings, an office building, an auditorium, and four portable structures.[3] The school teaches general education classes such as reading, math, language, and writing, as well as computer, art, music, physical education, library skills, and foreign languages, all beginning in pre-kindergarten.[2]
The school colors are white and Navy Blue.[4] The school mascot is the scorpion.[4]
As of 2015, annual tuition at Brandon Academy ranged from $6,100 to $10,900 per student, depending on grade level and enrollment program.[5]
The school is owned by Robert and Tricia Rudolph,[5] who took over from Teresa "Terry" Curry in 2005.[6]
IB program
Starting with the 2015-2016 school year, Brandon Academy began teaching ninth grade students for the first time with a plan to add a grade each successive school year and offer the International Baccalaureate diploma program for juniors and seniors.[7]
Awards and recognition
- In 2005, Brandon Academy was recognized as a National Award Winner for Outstanding Class Participation by the Fifteenth Annual Peace Education Awards.[8]
- In 2010, it was named a National Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education.[9]
- In April 2017, Brandon Academy was named an IB World School.[10]
