Overview
BOX Holdings Group LLC is the parent holding company of the BOX Options Market LLC (BOX Options), and BOX Digital Markets LLC. BOX Options was established in 2002 and launched trading in February 2004 as an alternative to the then-existing market models. Since inception, BOX Options has been an innovator in market structure and client services and currently operates both electronic and open outcry venues for the trading of equity options. BOX Digital was founded in 2018 and is engaged in creating and developing markets for trading digital assets in a regulated environment. BOX Exchange LLC is a national securities exchange registered with the SEC under Section 6 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. BOX Options is an equity options market that is jointly owned by the TMX Group and a group of broker/dealers. BOX was established in 2002 and launched trading in February 2004 as an alternative to the then-existing market models. Since inception, BOX Options has provided BOX Options Participants with an efficient, transparent marketplace, cutting-edge technology, and best price filtering for customer order execution.
Services
BOX Options offers many distinctive features. Its trading engine software provides an open Application Program Interface, which allows BOX Options Participants to interface their existing order routing and trading software to the trading engine. BOX Options also provides a FIX gateway protocol for connection to its trading engine. The BOX Options network allows points of connection to its trading engine from New Jersey and Chicago. The BOX trading system operates on a state of the art, high performance and low-latency SOLA trading platform. BOX Options currently operates an open outcry trading venue in Chicago for the trading of equity options. BOX Options Provides the flexibility for all Participants to establish risk parameters specific to each Participant’s risk tolerance.
PIP Algorithm
BOX Options was the first options market to provide private investors with the possibility of price improvement via its innovative electronic auction process known as the Price Improvement Period (“PIP”).
