Boris Gamaleya

Boris Gamaleya (born December 18, 1930, St. Louis) - Réunion poet, literary critic, linguist, folklorist, and social activist. Writes on French.

His father was a Ukrainian, mother - reunion Creole. From the youth participated in the liberation struggle, experienced persecution from the French colonial administration: he was expelled from the island for 12 years. He was a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Reunion. The author of several books of poetry. Boris Gamaleya published poems on Ukrainian language (translation Victor Koptilov) in the magazine "The Universe" (1981) and the anthology "The Poetry of Africa" (1983).
