Bongani Bongo

Bongani Thomas Bongo is a South African politician and the former Minister of State Security, a position to which he was appointed on 17 October 2017 until he was relieved from the post on 28 February 2018. As the Minister of State Security, Bongo headed the State Security Agency.

He was one of the Zuma envoy to the Zimbabwe's November 2017 Coup that deposed Robert Mugabe. He was not considered by the Zimbabwean military generals who regarded him as a minor in the political arena leaving the SA's defense Minister, Minister Mapisa Nqakula to negotiate with the Zimbabwian Generals.
