Danny Paisley and the Southern Grass

Danny Paisley and The Southern Grass are an award-winning American Bluegrass band that performs mainly traditional style bluegrass music. The band tours domestically and internationally and records on the Patuxent Music label. They are currently represented by Roe Entertainment.

History

The band was started by Bob Paisley after leaving Ted Lundy and The Southern Mountain Boys.[1] By 1979 they were known as Bob Paisley and the Southern Grass.[2][3][4] They were soon joined by Bob's son, Danny Paisley, and Ted Lundy’s sons T.J. and Bobby Lundy; following Ted's Sudden death in 1980.[5] The final configuration of the group was completed by Mandolinist Donnie Eldreth. In 2004 after years of fighting cancer Bob Paisley passed away, and Bob's son Danny Paisley took over the group. Since that time they have been touring domestically and internationally as Danny Paisley and the Southern Grass. In 2009 the group received the Song of the Year award from the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) for the song "Don't Throw Mama's Flowers Away" written by Chris Stuart and Ivan Rosenberg. Also, in 2016 Danny Paisley received the IBMA's Male Vocalist of the Year award. A moment revered by his peers who gave him a standing ovation. The group has also received multiple nominations from the IBMA .
