Blue Whale Harbour

Blue Whale Harbour (54°4′S 37°1′W / 54.067°S 37.017°W / -54.067; -37.017Coordinates: 54°4′S 37°1′W / 54.067°S 37.017°W / -54.067; -37.017) is a small, sheltered anchorage entered 1 nautical mile (2 km) west-southwest of Cape Constance, along the north coast of South Georgia Island. It was charted in 1930 by Discovery Investigations personnel. It is named for the blue whale, a commercially important species which was once widely distributed in polar and subpolar waters; numbers are now very small.[1]

Shelter Point is a point on the west side of the harbour, also charted and named descriptively by Discovery Investigations between 1929-30.[2]
