I am a 40 year resident in Barrow, (which is known by the residents as The Barrow. The hill is known locally as The Tump. Hence Tump Court in the picture. Barrow hill farm is the house next door and is no longer a farm. There are 21 houses in the village with a population of about 40 varying in age from 10 to 90 with a small MOD station, which is our saviour in bad winters as they have to keep the roads open! It is no longer an RAF Station. We have the river Chelt running round the hamlet and a large lake at the bottom of the hill. The lake is private and owned by the Robert Hitchins Company There is an independent farm, but the hamlet is otherwise surrounded by the estate owned by the Robert Hitchins Company, based in Boddington. The relationship between the Company and the hamlet has always been good and close.
