Avándaro is a photo-book written by Mexican writer Luis Carrion in 1971. The book describes Carrion's experiences at the 1971's Avandaro Festival and was written as a critic to the followers of La Onda from a leftist point of view. According to Carrion and many of his peers from the Left, while the jipitecas were genuinely anti-establishment, they were being manipulated by the Government and mass-media.[1]

Pictures from the book, taken by multi-awarded photographer Graciela Iturbide, were restored and exhibited at the Chopo museum[2] and reused for a 2017 photo-book about the festival written by Rubli Kaiser with a Prologue by one of the festival's co-organizers, Luis de Llano, named "Yo estuve en Avandaro".[3]

The book has reached a high price in auctions and is considered a masterpiece of its kind among collectors.[4] [5] [6]
