Apollonia (northern Crete)

Apollonia (Greek: Ἀπολλωνία) was an ancient city of Crete, near Knossos,[1] the inhabitants of which were most treacherously treated by the Cydoniatae, who were their friends and allies.[2] The site is on the coast near Armyro, or perhaps approaching towards Megalo Kastron, at the Ghiófero.[3] The editors of the Barrington Atlas of the Greek and Roman World place Apollonia at Gazi.[4]
