Space Invaders

Another Night is the multi-platinum selling album by the German Eurodance / Pop music project Real McCoy. The album features the hit songs "Another Night," "Automatic Lover (Call for Love)," "Run Away," "Love & Devotion" and a cover version of the hit "Come and Get Your Love." The success of the singles drove the album to Platinum status in the United States, Canada and Australia in 1995.

Prior to being released in the U.S. by Arista Records in 1995, Another Night had originally been released in Europe in the Summer of 1994 by BMG Berlin (Hansa Records) under the title Space Invaders and the project name M.C. Sar & The Real McCoy. German rapper Olaf Jeglitza (O-Jay) and American singer Patricia Petersen (Patsy) had originally fronted the project as a rapper-singer duo. Singer Vanessa Mason was later recruited strictly into the live act in 1994. After noticing how quickly the "Another Night" single had reached No.55 in Canada in the Spring of 1994, Arista Records CEO Clive Davis became interested in bringing the project to the U.S. market. Once a new deal was finalized between Arista and BMG, the project name was shortened to Real McCoy and an all new release of the Space Invaders album and it's three singles ("Another Night", "Automatic Lover (Call for Love)", "Run Away,") was quickly planned for 1995. The project was officially re-branded as a trio act featuring Jeglitza, Petersen and Mason. The album was re-titled Another Night. The cover art, imagery and marketing for the album was completely changed to present a lighter romantic tone. The album track "Love & Devotion," was selected to be a fourth single release. Several album tracks were removed and a new team of producers were brought in to write and co-produce three new cover songs ("Come and Get Your Love," "Ooh Boy," "If You Should Ever Be Lonely (Deep in the Night)") and a new original track ("Sleeping with an Angel") for the U.S. release. "Come and Get Your Love" would later become the fifth single release and a double A-sided single featuring "Ooh Boy" and "Sleeping with an Angel" would be the final single release.

Thanks to the combined marketing and distribution power of Arista Records and BMG, the "Another Night" single quickly became No.1 on the dance charts while "Run Away" earned Gold status. The Real McCoy cover version of "Come and Get Your Love" also reached No.1 on U.S. dance charts as well. The massive commercial success of the three singles drove the Another Night album to Platinum status. Many years after the break up of the group in the late '90s, Petersen and Mason were revealed to have not been the real singers of the project. Both women had in fact been miming the vocals of studio singer Karin Kasar for all the group's music videos and live performances between 1993 and 1995.
