Amber Dawn West (née Stevens; born October 7, 1986), known as Amber Stevens West, is an American actress and model. She is best known for her roles as Ashleigh Howard in the ABC Family series Greek, Maya in 22 Jump Street, Maxine in the NBC sitcom, The Carmichael Show.[1]

Early life

Stevens West was born Amber Dawn Stevens in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of actor and radio announcer Shadoe Stevens and former model Beverly Cunningham. She has a younger sister named Chyna Rose Stevens.[2] Stevens is mixed race, being born to a white father and black mother. Her mother is also part Comanche.[3][4]

Stevens West is a graduate of Beverly Hills High School.[5]

Career

Early work

From 2007 to 2011, Stevens West appeared in her breakout role as Ashleigh Howard on the ABC Family series Greek.[6]

In 2011, Stevens West played the role of Mimi Marquez in the musical Rent: Downtown L.A.[7]

In 2014, she appeared as Maya in 22 Jump Street.[8]

Star roles

In 2015, Stevens West co-starred opposite Jerrod Carmichael as Maxine in the NBC comedy sitcom, The Carmichael Show.[1] In 2017, following that show's end, Stevens West was cast as a series FOX supernatural comedy Ghosted.[9]

Personal life

Stevens began dating actor Andrew J. West after they met while co-starring in Greek. They married on December 5, 2014, in Los Angeles.[10] In May 2018, they announced that they were expecting their first child.[11]
