Amatsu Shrine (天津神社, Amatsu jinja) is the Japanese Shinto shrine in Itoigawa, Niigata.[1]

History

Amatsu was one of the chief Shinto shrines (ichinomiya) of the old Echigo Province. It serves today as one of the ichinomiya of Niigata Prefecture.[2] The enshrined kami are:

  • Ninigi no mikoto (瓊瓊杵尊), also known as Amatsuhikohikoho Ninigi no mikoto[1]
  • Amenokoyane no ookami (天児屋根神)[1]
  • Futodama no mikoto (太玉命)[1]
