Alex Geringas is a composer and songwriter and based in Los Angeles, United States.

Biography

Multi-award-winning songwriter / Composer Alex Geringas has garnered international-acclaim for both his songs and scores. His music has earned him awards and recognition on several continents including a Grammy award, Emmy and Annie nominations and two Echo awards (the German equivalent to a Grammy), . As the son of world-famous cellist David Geringas and pianist Tatjana Schatz, it was inevitable that he would flourish as a composer and songwriter.

Originally from Moscow, Russia, Alex Geringas was an actor, playwright and stage director and studied composing in Hamburg, Germany before he started his scoring career with the HANNI & NANNI-Trilogy Winner of a “Bambi” (German Film Award) and the international version of MEN IN THE CITY 2 with Till Schweiger. In 2015, he scored Warner Bros’ I’M OFF THEN which became one of the most successful movies in Germany that year.

As a songwriter and producer, Geringas had eighteen #1 Hits worldwide, including eleven # 1 hits in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, six #1 hits in Japan, two #1 in South Korea. Alex Geringas’ publisher pitched one of his original songs to Kelly Clarkson, DARK SIDE; her record label released the song as a single. He then decided to relocate to Los Angeles with his wife and two kids.

Alex Geringas is currently scoring the Dreamworks Animated Television hit series HOME, ADVENTURES WITH TIP AND OH. He is Annie nominated for his score. In addition to scoring the series, he has written original songs performed by music icons including Cher, Kelly Clarkson, Dove Cameron, and Boy George.

In 2015, Geringas earned an Emmy nomination for his song “Who’s da King,” the main title from ALL HAIL KING JULIEN. His other theme songs for animated series include WORD PARTY and VOLTRON,LEGENDARY DEFENDER, both currently airing on Netflix. Additionally, he contributed songs for the PBS Show SPLASH AND BUBBLES. In the game show category, Geringas has written themes for BEAT SHAZAM (FOX) and SING YOUR FACE OFF (ABC)

Alex Geringas music for the big screen includes the OSCAR-Shortlisted Song "My Superstar" from ICE AGE 5 (sung by Jessie J), end title songs for THE NUT JOB 2 ,WOODY WOODPECKER (theme and all songs) and for THE LEGO NINJAGO MOVIE where he also contributed additional music. Other original song contributions include the TV series’ THE MUPPETS (ABC), TRAINING DAY (CBS) and CSI (CBS). Alex Geringas wrote eight original songs for Dreamworks Animation’s new Christmas Musical HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS performed by Kelly Clarkson, Ben Schwartz and the cast of the show.

Currently Alex Geringas is scoring Dreamworks/Netflix series TROLLS: THE BEAT GOES ON. He was also score producer and contributed additional music for PITCH PERFECT 3 and UNCLE DREW. He also wrote Christmas songs for the Robert De Niro and Uma Thurman film THE WAR WITH GRANDPA as well as original songs for the Melissa McCarthy film HAPPYTIME MURDERS.
