Aída María Yéspica Jaime (Spanish pronunciation: [aˈiða maˈɾi.a ˈʝespika ˈxaime]) (born on 15 July 1982 in Barquisimeto, Venezuela) is a Venezuelan television personality, model, actress and former beauty pageant contestant active in show business in Venezuela, Italy, Spain and United States simply as Aída Yéspica. Considered a sex symbol of the 2000s and 2010s, due to her considerable beauty and charm, she has participated in variety and reality shows, acted in films and TV programs, posed for several nude calendars, and appeared in television commercials. The tabloid press in Italy and abroad have followed developments in her career and personal life.

Biography

Known as Aída Yéspica,[4] also as Aída María Yéspica,[5] her full name at the Venezuelan registry is Aída María Yéspica Jaime.[6]

Pageant participation

Yéspica's career began in 2002 in the Miss Venezuela pageant: as Miss Amazonas, she represented the state of Amazonas; although Mariangel Ruiz won the pageant, Yéspica became a big favorite[1][2] among the press: despite her relatively average height (173 cm or 5'8"), her 90-60-90 cm (36"-24"-36") measurements captured significant attention.[7]

Modeling career

Yéspica, in early 2003, moved to Milan in Italy to start a modeling career: from then on she has obtained a growing reputation in the Italian system of showbusiness, as a model and showgirl, with many covers of Italian magazines (including Maxim, GQ, Max and Fox) and realizing four nude calendars (NC) in Italy[8] (precisely NC Fox 2004,[9] NC GQ 2005,[10] NC Fapim 2005[11] and NC Riello 2006[12]) obtaining much success (the Corriere della Sera put her in first place[13] as liking). She became in June 2003 the female lead[14] of the Cesare Cremonini's videoclip Latin Lover and some important television commercials (most notably those for Braun, Campari, Calze Sanpellegrino, Nissan - this for Japan[15] - and RAS, in the latter Yéspica was starring[15] with Sean Connery). Yéspica became a big star in the Italian entertainment business, gracing the covers of multiple magazines including GQ and Maxim, two of the most important men's magazines in the Italy of the 2000s and in this period Yéspica appears regularly on Fashion TV and in the national networks of RAI and Mediaset doing photoshoots, nude calendars, lingerie pictorials and fashion commercials or as a presenter, model, showgirl and actress. Yéspica in July 2005[16] became model and spokesperson,[16] with Alberto Gilardino, of the jewelry line produced by Zancan.[16] Yéspica in 2007 became model and spokesperson of sunglasses and eyeglasses of Oxydo that are produced by the Safilo Group,[14][17] she became the female lead[18] of Dip It, a videoclip of the American rapper Coolio,[19] and Yéspica posed totally naked[20][21] for her hottest calendar, the NC Interviú 2007 in Spain,[22][23] obtaining great success.[24] Yéspica in October 2008[25] posed totally naked[26] during the 8th month of her first pregnancy[27] for the weekly magazine Chi obtaining much success. Yéspica in December 2009[28] became the female lead[29] of Get Involved, a videoclip of the American singer and songwriter Ginuwine, directed by Claudio Zagarini and Marco Pavone.[30] Yéspica became model and spokesperson for SièLei (both for the Italian market for the international market) on three occasions, namely the first time in March 2010[31] for the underwear line[32] and for the bikini line,[33] the second time in the summer of 2011 for the bikini line[34] and the third time in November 2011[35] for the "Christmas underwear" line.[36][37] Yéspica in December 2011 became the female lead of You Know Ain’t Love (videoclip de R.J. feat. Pitbull).[38] Yéspica posed, shortly after her participation in the ninth season of the reality show L'isola dei Famosi aired by Rai 2 in the winter of 2012,[39] for the cover story[40] of the n. 35[41] (published in May 2012)[42] of Playboy Italia (the Italian ediction of Playboy).[43] Yéspica in June 2012 became (with Nina Senicar) the evening star (madrina della serata) in the 2012 edition of Pitti Uomo[44][45] as model and spokesperson of Sweet Years.[44][45] Yéspica in September 2013 became model and spokesperson[46] for the bags line of La Dolce Vita.[47] Yéspica in September 2017 became, shortly before her participation in the Grande Fratello VIP aired by Canale 5 in the autumn of 2017,[48] model and spokesperson for the autumn–winter collection of the 2016–2017 season of Dorabella, an Italian brand of clothes.[49] Yéspica in December 2017 became, shortly after her participation in the second season of the reality show Grande Fratello VIP,[48] model and spokesperson for the shoes of Wo Milano Shoes, an Italian luxury brand of shoes. Yéspica in January 2018[50] became, at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence for international fashion events organized by Pitti Immagine,[51] the evening star (madrina della serata) of Pitti Bimbo as model and spokesperson of some Italian fashion brands (To Be Too, Y-Clù, Jeckerson, Briince, Ronnie Kay and Gaialuna)[52] and of Pitti Uomo as model and spokesperson of Boy London.[53] Yéspica in March 2018 posed (and became model and spokesperson) for the line of wedding dresses of Kuea for the spring-summer of 2018.[54] Yéspica in May 2018 posed for the cover of Più sani più belli, an Italian monthly magazine of fitness, and she obtained much success of public opinion for her sexy body.[55][56] In the same period (between April and May 2018)[57][58] Yéspica was "the special testimonial" (la madrina dell'evento),[59][60] obtaining much success[61][62] of public opinion and from the journalistic critics,[63][64] of the SBK World Championship at the Imola racetrack[65][66] and participated with Wanda Nara[67] as one of the guest stars in the 23th season of the Gran Gala del Premio Gentleman 2018, a special evening (and prize) hosted by Laura Barriales and Massimo Caputi.[68]

Entertainment

Considered a sex symbol of the 2000s and 2010s, due to her considerable beauty and charm, Yéspica became an international reality TV star through many important reality shows as: L'isola dei Famosi 2 (the Italian version of Celebrity Survivor) aired in Italy by Rai 2 in autumn 2004[69] and hosted by Simona Ventura in studio with Massimo Caputi from the island, Supervivientes (the Spanish version of Survivor)[70] aired in Spain by Telecinco in May–July 2006 (this season, named Supervivientes: Perdidos en el Caribe, was won by Carmen Russo) and hosted by Jesús Vázquez in studio with José María Íñigo from the island, L'isola dei Famosi 9 (the Heroes season)[70] aired in Italy by Rai 2 in January–April 2012 and hosted by Nicola Savino in studio with Vladimir Luxuria from the island, Grande Fratello VIP 2 (the Italian version of Celebrity Big Brother) aired in Italy by Canale 5 in autumn 2017[48] and hosted by Ilary Blasi (with Alfonso Signorini). The fiery temperament of Yéspica made her a favorite among both Italian and Spanish fans: she subsequently began work as a showgirl and actress in Italy[14] and also as a nude calendar model in Italy and in Spain.[24]

Television career

Yéspica from 2003[14] regularly appears on television[14] in various programs dedicated to fashion and in various commercials: her official debut as a showgirl and presenter dates back 2003-2004 edition of the comedy show Bulldozer aired by Rai 2 and hosted by Federica Panicucci.[14][71] In the autumn of 2004 Yéspica became one of the competitors[14][71] of the 2nd edition of L'Isola dei Famosi,[69] a reality show hosted by Simona Ventura on Rai 2 in which she obtained popularity because she finished at the 5th place in the race. In the 2005-2006 season she became (together with Pamela Prati) the primadonna[14][71] of the variety of Canale 5 Torte in faccia produced by the Compagnia del Bagaglino. In the spring of 2006 Yéspica participated in the 7th edition of Supervivientes, the Spanish "island" of Telecinco, obtaining the 5th place in the race.[14][71] In 2007 Aída Yéspica became the primadonna[14][72] of the variety E io pago produced by the Compagnia del Bagaglino and aired in the prime time of Canale 5.[71][73] In the winter of 2008 Yéspica became the primadonna of Gabbia di matti,[14] a variety (the last with her) of Canale 5 produced by the Compagnia del Bagaglino.[71] In the summer of 2008 Yéspica became, along with Melita Toniolo and Belén Rodríguez, one of the correspondent and co-host of Lucignolo, a program of Italia 1. A few months later[74] Yéspica suffered from postpartum depression[75][76] and therefore her television career (and not only)[77] suffered a sharp slowdown[74] which, according to the journalistic critics,[78] penalized her at least August 2011;[77] however, after this incident Yéspica never again reached the great success achieved previously the year 2009.[77] In early 2010 Yéspica supported her friend Claudia Galanti in her race at L'isola dei famosi 7 and in May 2010 Yéspica became (with Juliana Moreira) one of the guest stars and contestants[79] of the 1st edition of Fenomenal, a variety hosted on Italia 1 by Teo Mammucari.[80] Yéspica, during the 2010-2011 season, participated, as a guest star, in the late night show Chiambretti Night aired by Canale 5 and hosted by Piero Chiambretti: in November 2010 Yéspica attracted the attention and the consent of the public opinion and of the critics[81] performing, after the interview with the host, in a sensual striptease.[81]

In August 2011,[77] the Italian press[77] argued that Aída Yéspica would be dispute[77] between RAI and Mediaset to be inserted in the cast of contestants[77] in the two new shows planned[77] for the 2011-2012 season (namely the new shows were the talent show on acting[80][82] Sognando Hollywood hosted by Mara Venier[77] on Rai 1 and the talent dance show Baila! hosted by Barbara d'Urso[77] on Canale 5), but Yéspica did not took part because the Venier's show was canceled shortly before the broadcast[83] and the rival show was closed due to low ratings;[84] since Yéspica had accepted[82] the offer of Rai 1 discarding[82] that of Mediaset, in the winter of 2012 she was put back on Rai 2[85] to take part, in the vip-category of Heroes, to the 9th edition[86][87] of L'Isola dei Famosi, a reality show hosted by Nicola Savino where Yéspica obtained very good reviews[88] from the journalistic critics,[89] a success of public opinion[90][91] and 5th place in the race[89] because she was eliminated in the final episode with 58% of the vote against the winner Antonella Elia, but in the post-final episode[92] called Il Galà (The Gala) Yéspica was crowned as Queen of all the castaways (La regina di tutti i naufraghi), that is the moral winner of that reality,[91][92] having been voted the favorite[91][92] by all contestants. Between 2004 and 2012 Yéspica took part, as a model, in the successful evening events program Sfilata d'amore e moda, aired on Rete 4 every summer and hosted by Emanuela Folliero; Yéspica in the summer of 2008 took part, as a guest star, in the successful evening events program Miss Muretto aired on Italia 1. Yéspica in the 2012-2013 season took part, as a guest star, in the gossip talk show of Sky Uno Celebrity Now - Satira Selvaggia hosted by Selvaggia Lucarelli.[93]

In the summer of 2013[94] Yéspica has left the Italian system of showbusiness because she moved (with her son Aron) in Los Angeles[94] where she worked as model and actress until the summer of 2016 when she moved in Miami (with her son Aron) and in Italy (for working). Yéspica on 16 April 2017 has returned - after some years of total absence - in the Italian television because she participated (with Elenoire Casalegno, Anna Falchi, Laura Barriales with others contestants) in Furore, a music game show aired by Rai 2 and hosted by Alessandro Greco with Gigi e Ross.[95] In the autumn of 2017[96] Yéspica became one of the vip-housemates[97][98] in the second season[99][100] of the Grande Fratello VIP, the Italian adaptation of Celebrity Big Brother,[48][101] and in this reality, hosted by Ilary Blasi on Canale 5, Yéspica obtained the 5th place in the race,[102] a success of public opinion[103] and very good reviews from the journalistic critics.[104] Yéspica, after that reality show, holds since December 2017 the role of "fixed commentator" (opinionista fissa) in the sports talk show of Italia 1 Tiki Taka - Il calcio è il nostro gioco hosted by Pierluigi Pardo and aired, with much success, in the late night slot.[105] Yéspica in January 2018[106] was one of the judges[107] in the 3rd season of the reality show, hosted by Paola Perego and aired by Rai 1, Superbrain - Le supermenti,[108] the Italian version of Deutschlands Superhirn.[109]

Yéspica in April 2018 was one of the guest stars in the XV season[110] of the reality show Grande Fratello hosted by Barbara d'Urso[111] and aired by Canale 5.[112] Yéspica in May 2018[113] was one of the guest stars in the special episode dedicated to Mother's Day[114] of the quiz show Caduta Libera hosted by Gerry Scotti and aired by Canale 5.[114]

Career as actress

In spring 2004[115] Yéspica debuted as actress reciting (with Digei Angelo, Nicola Savino and Camila Raznovich) in Sformat,[115] a satirical sitcom aired in the late night slot of Rai 2 and directed by Cristian Biondani;[115] subsequently she recited in two TV movies Domani è un'altra truffa and Di che peccato sei? aired in the prime time of Canale 5 respectively in January 2006 and in January 2007 (the producer is the Compagnia del Bagaglino, a famous theater company in Italy). She debuted in the cinema in December 2007 reciting (with Christian De Sica, Michelle Hunziker and Fabio De Luigi) in Natale in crociera (a cinepanettone directed by Neri Parenti); Yéspica obtained the consent of critics and public opinion.

Yéspica in 2013[116] launched herself in a new adventure that sees her fully engaged with her friend Simona Ilaria di Michele, an Italian promising young director/producer/writer;[116] Yéspica became the female lead[117] of the artistic-social short film UnderSense, a travel in a woman's mind: Yéspica felt in love with the project[118] and she decided to become[119] also the executive producer.[116] Moreover, always in 2013,[120] Yéspica became the female lead,[120] with Mexican actress Gloria Patricia Contreras,[120] in the short film The Night Club - Osare per credere directed by the Italian television celebrity Lory Del Santo.[120]

Personal life

During the reality show L'isola dei Famosi 2 (aired in the autumn of 2004), Yéspica started a relationship with fellow contestant Francesco Facchinetti, an Italian singer (son of Roby Facchinetti); their relationship has often been at the center of Italian gossip, but ended in July 2006. From 2007 to 2009 Yéspica had a love story with Matteo Ferrari, an afro-Italian footballer, and their relationship has often been at the center of Italian gossip. Yéspica has a son, Aron Ferrari, born on 27 November 2008,[121] with Matteo Ferrari, who was at that time her boyfriend. Shortly after the birth of Aron,[121] Yéspica suffered of postpartum depression[75][76] and her career suffered serious damage[74][78] until August 2011;[77] after this incident she never again reached the great success achieved previously the year 2009.[77] In January 2009[122] Matteo Ferrari definitively left Yéspica (and their son Aron).
