Adromischus cooperi is a species of the genus Adromischus from the Crassulaceae family. It is endemic to the eastern cape of South Africa.
Description
Adromischus cooperi is a small perennial plant (10 cm) almost acaulescent with a compact appearance. The leaves are strongly fleshy and narrow at the base. They have a peculiarity that makes it possible to identify them : wavy ends.
Given good sun, they show patches of reddish or brown color.
It is a species with slow growth and becomes slightly tree-like with age. It develops in time (several years) one or more rather thick succulent trunks.
The flowers are insignificant, small in size on an upright stem.
Cultivation
This is an easy growing plant. It needs bright sunlight to show dark-colored ornamental spots on the leaves.
It supports drought which results in thinning leaves that will re-inflate when watering.
It reproduces easily by cuttings of the leaves during vegetative period.
Wintering in illuminated exposure at a temperature of around 12 °C. Store in a dry place. In this case it can withstand a slight freezing (-2 °C). Heavy watering in summer.
