History

Former logo.

The team won the Romanian Cup in 1960 and played another 4 finals in 1958, 1997, 2003 and 2006.

One of the club's biggest successes was the elimination of Serbian side Partizan Belgrade in the UEFA Cup competition in the late 1990s.

Surprisingly, the club was relegated to the Liga II at the end of the 2006–07 season, finishing 16th out of 18 teams.

In April 2009 the club was kicked out of the 2nd division championship because of financial reasons. Prior to this, only a few days before, they were kicked out from the Cotroceni Stadium by BNR, because of debts.

Starting with the 2009–10 season we see the club playing only in the Liga IV, finishing in the middle of the table each season. Most recently 6th at the end of the 2014–15 season.

Season 2015–2016 has embraced Progresul Bucuresti with great results. After many years they finished on first place in the 4th league, and made it to the finals in the Romanian Cup, where they played against A.S Electroaparataj.
