Predicted/scheduled events
Extrapolations
- 3000: Sea level was predicted to rise by between 1.1 and 6.8 metres (4 and 22 ft) by the year 3000 in a 2012 study.[1]
- 3015: A camera placed by Jonathon Keats will finish its exposure time after its placement at the ASU Art Museum in Tempe, Arizona, in 2015.[2]
- 3117: Minimum time by which, according to physicist Andrew Kennedy, humanity can expect to have reached Barnard's Star, assuming an annual economic growth rate (and corresponding increase in power output) of 1.4% from 2007.[3]
- 3183: The time pyramid, a public art work at Wemding, Germany, is scheduled for completion.[4]
Astronomical events
- c.3000: due to axial precession, γ Cephei will replace the previous target, Polaris (α Ursae Minoris), as Earth's northern pole star (the next naked eye North star will be ι Cephei, c.5200).
- December 18, 3089: First transit of Venus which is not part of a pair since November 23, 1396.
- December 20, 3332: transit of Venus.
- 3412: Expected return of Comet McNaught–Russell.
- 3711/12: multi-triple conjunction between Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
- The expected return of Comet Donati.

"The research showed that we have already committed ourselves to a sea-level rise of 1.1 metres by the year 3000 as a result of our greenhouse gas emissions up to now. This irreversible damage could be worse, depending on the route we take to mitigating our emissions. If we were to follow the high A2 emissions scenario adopted by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), a sea-level rise of 6.8 metres could be expected in the next thousand years. The two other IPCC scenarios analysed by the researchers, the B1 and A1B scenarios, yielded sea-level rises of 2.1 and 4.1 metres respectively."
