The 1996–97 Macedonian Football Cup was the 5th season of Macedonia's football knockout competition. FK Sloga Jugomagnat were the defending champions, having won their first title. The 1996–97 champions were FK Sileks who won their second title.

Pobeda won the group and were advanced to the semifinal, the other teams in group are Bashkimi, Ohrid and Sasa.
Group 2
Sloga Jugomagnat won the group and were advanced to the semifinal, the other teams in group are Pelister, Rudar Probishtip and Shkëndija.
Group 3
Sileks won the group and were advanced to the semifinal, the other teams in group are Balkan, Belasica and Skopje.
Group 4
Makedonija GP won the group and were advanced to the semifinal, the other teams in group are Bregalnica Shtip, Tikvesh and Vardar.
Semi-finals
Sileks and Sloga Jugomagnat won their matches and were advanced to the final, Pobeda and Makedonija GP were eliminated.
