The central figure may be Tycho Brahe, although this identification places the manuscript at a later date than many researchers are comfortable with.

Under that theory, the prominent stars to the lower left appears to be Casseopeia, and Tycho's Star, the supernova of 1572, is the outer of the two stars in the 8:30 position. The single star to the lower right is Algol.
