Ozonolysis is the process in which you treat an alkene or alkyne with ozone (O3). Ozone will attack a C=C (or a triple bond between carbons) and cleave it, leaving 2 areas that are slightly electropositive, oxygens will quickly bond to these carbons, and the end structure now has 2 Oxygens doubly bonded to 2 carbons.
