Lesson 6.5: Days and Months

In this lesson we'll use the numbers that we've previously learnt, and we'll use them to express the date.

Days

Several of the days of the week have names related to numbers. Except for Σαββατο, Saturday, which is neuter, they are all feminine.

Giving the day / date

Examples
Είναι Παρασκευή.It is Friday.
Σήμερα είναι Τετάρτη.Today is Wednesday.
Τι μέρα είναι;What day is it?
Είναι στις 16 Νοεμβρίου.It's on the 16th of November.

In the final example you'll see that the month is in the genitive, because it's the 16th OF November. For all the days of the months use στις + the number in the feminine (because it's the day, which is feminine plural). The first of the month is treated slightly differently, here use the ordinal number.

Examples
Είναι στις είκοσι μια Νοεμβρίου.It's the 21st of November
Την πρώτη Νοεμβρίου.The 1st of November
