This country was a region of the former Soviet Union and became an independent nation in 1991.
Meter stamps with former Soviet Union markings (“CCCP”, hammer and sickle) continued to be used after independence.
Provisional stamps with Soviet inscriptions removed and stamps inscribed with the new country name are presumed to exist but have not been reported.
