THE ONENESS OF GOD

God, the Creator and Father of all, is Spirit. He dwells in the unapproachable light of eternity into which no mortal man can enter. “He who is the blessed and only Potentate (monarch), the King of kings and the Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honour and everlasting power. Amen." 1 Timothy 6:16

Scripture tells us here and in other places (John 1:18; Ex. 33:20; Judges 13:22) , that no man has seen God at any time and that no man can see God and live.

We see in John’s vision in Revelation that “One sat upon the throne” with a glorious crystalline manifestation of light as an aura in the form of a rainbow around Him (Rev.4:2-3).

And all heaven worships the One upon the throne: “Whenever the living creatures give glory to Him who sits upon the throne, who lives forever and ever, the four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship Him that lives for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, You art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for You have created all things, and for Your pleasure they are and were created.” Revelation 4:10-11.

The worship of God’s angels and the martyrs for Yeshua in heaven are centred on the One who sits upon the throne (see also 7:11-12) and they offer praise and homage to the Lamb (Revelation 11:15), but the focus is on YHWH Himself as God, and the Son, who is the Lamb, is separate and subordinate to Him.

There is but “One God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in all.” Ephesians 4:6

“For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,” 1 Timothy 2:5

“But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Yeshua the Messiah, by whom are all things, and we by him.” 1 Corinthians 8:6

“You believe that there is one God; ... .” James 2:19

"there is none other God but one.” 1 Corinthians 8:4.

"You shall have no other gods before me.” (Exodus 20:3) - Note that it is singular, as of one Person.

The “Shema” (Deut.6:4-9) is the traditional prayer (taken from scripture) that states that God is one person and has been used for millennia as a confession of faith by the Israelites.

"Hear, O Israel: YHWH our God, YHWH is one! You shall love YHWH your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. "And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” Deuteronomy 6:4-9

This is taught to a child from the moment they can talk and thereby the concept of the Oneness of God is embedded deeply into their being. The trinity doctrine has been one of the greatest hindrances in the evangelisation of Jews by the “church” and reeks of idolatry and paganism to them. To make the Messiah equal to God is contrary to their knowledge of scripture, nor is there any basis for a “trinity” concept in the Tanach.

The western mindset has interpreted the plural form of “El" (God) which is ‘elohim’, and used it as a basis to support the doctrine of the trinity. In the Hebrew, the use of ‘elohim’ was previously understood to show how unique, complete, and perfect the true God was in comparison to other gods. The plural form (which is called a majestic plural) proves God’s immensity -- not the trinity!

YHWH alone is an all-inclusive God; with complete power and sovereignty over creation. Although the word ‘elohim’ is plural, it is used with a singular verb, demonstrating that it is only one “god” that is referred to. When He says, “Let us make man in our image” (Gen.1:28), it is an assumption that it is members within the ‘godhead’ speaking with one another. Seeing we know that the Son executed the Father’s blueprint of creation, it can be assumed that this is an account of the Father initiating the creation of man with His Son. In the Shema prayer, when it says that Yahweh is one, the word used is ‘echad’. This word, “echad” is used with the meaning of being a unified entity. But, it is not the word’s primary definition. When the scripture wants to specify singularity, this word is used in preference to the other word for “one", which is “yachid”. This indicates that the word not only can, but also should be understood as singular in the Shema passage. This is the way that the Israelites have understood this word for millennia, and have advocated monotheism over polytheism. Scripture does not say that the Eternal is three, but only one."

Of note also, is that there are no conversations between either the Father or the Son with the “holy Spirit” as another “Person”. The scripture does not personify the Spirit of God as being separate from the Father Himself.

THE MANIFESTATION OF GOD

As said, God is Spirit and dwells in “unapproachable”, or inaccessible light. That is, He dwells in a form of light which is outside of our sphere of existence and which we cannot endure. The natural light of the sun is even too brilliant for us to look upon in its intensity. and it is merely created physical matter. What John saw when in the Spirit, was only a vision, yet we glimpse the immensity of the glory of that supernatural light that emanated from His own Person and surrounded the throne.

Light is the highest form of known energy. The Son spoke the creation into being by His words: “Then God said, .... “Let there be light ... etc.. (Genesis 1) The energy of His voice brought creation into being (Psalm 33:9; 148:5) The vibrations of sound can be measured. The energy of radio waves can be measured. We are told that death and life is even in the power of our tongues - and that is because we are made in His image (Proverbs 18:21). Power went out from Yahweh and was projected into creation by His Spirit. That power (His Spirit) remains resident in creation as the spark of life which is in the smallest atom and nuclear particle which scientists know is there, but cannot see, as it is not physical matter. By His Spirit, He is resident in creation.

God’s Spirit is His Being which is present in every place and in everything. “In Him we live and move and have our being” Acts 17:28

God’s “bodily” presence sits on a throne in heaven, but His Spirit is everywhere as a projection of Himself.  It is not the fullness of His Being, but a projection of Himself, from Himself, into the physical realm. Just as 'power’ went forth from Yeshua to heal people, so energy/power went forth from the Father to create the worlds and all that is in them and His Presence in that form remains there. As it says, “He upholds all things by the word of His power” through the agency of the Son. (Hebrews 1:3)

The word “spirit” in Hebrew is RUACH which means’breath’ or ‘wind’. It does not have the meaning which we attach to the word ‘spirit’, as of a supernatural entity. The King James Version has promoted that wrong concept by translating “Holy Spirit” as “Holy Ghost”, thus implying a ghost-like spiritual entity that is the third “person” of the godhead. It is God Himself that has manifested Himself in creation.

His life-force, or energy is manifested into creation but He has also manifested His own Person in a projection of His Presence, to, upon and through His spiritual children, which has been termed the “holy Spirit” (Jn 14:23). His Spirit in this form is called ‘holy’, as it manifests the nature of the holiness of His Being. This is also why it is the unforgivable sin to blaspheme against the manifest Power and Presence of the Person of the Father (the holy Spirit), whereas the blasphemy against the Son can be forgiven (Mark 3:28-29).

Yahweh has always desired to dwell/tabernacle with His people (Gen.1:26). The motivation in creation was to have sons with whom He could fellowship and who could reciprocate His love. The plan of redemption was based upon bringing His children to mature sonship to fulfil the original plan and purpose for His creation.

He took the nation of Israel as a people for Himself to tabernacle/dwell with, and led them by His manifest Presence out of Egypt to the promised land (Exodus 13:21-22 & (Exodus 33:9-11; 40:34-38; Nehemiah 9:12)). “And He said, My Presence will go with you,” Exodus 33:14 Whenever they camped, He hovered over the tabernacle. It was the Father as well as the Son (the Angel of Yahweh), that manifested Himself and dwelt with the children of Israel (Exodus 14:19). When they reached the promised land, He dwelt in the Tabernacle that was pitched there for Him, and later in the Temples that were constructed to ‘house’ Him (2 Chronicles 6:18-21; Zechariah 8:3). When Israel rejected Yeshua as their Messiah, the Shekinah Presence of Yahweh was seen to leave the second Temple, linger upon the Mt. of Olives and then ascend into heaven. Fifty days later, on the day of Pentecost, it was poured out upon the temple of living stones in the upper room. Acts 2:4 In the new restored earth, Yahweh will fulfil His original plan and be able to dwell with mankind. “Behold the tabernacle of God with with men, and He will dwell with them and be their God.” Revelation 21:3
