< College Guide

Early Decision (ED), as the name suggests, is an alternate way of applying to college that occurs earlier than normal. This kind of application is binding, meaning that if you are accepted, you must drop all applications to other colleges. As a result, you can only apply for ED at one college.

The advantage of ED is that it shows a commitment and special interest in the college. This results in a higher acceptance rate.
