Basically, a conjunct is nothing but a combination of two consonants. In Bengali and some other writing systems, when a consonant letter follows another consonant without a vowel in between, these two letters are combined into a new hybrid letter with a new glyph.

Bengali is full of conjuncts or consonant clusters. One should not be overwhelmed by their number. Construction of most of these letters are easy, with only a handful like ক্ষ being irregular. The best way to learn conjuncts is to actually read them in the context of words in speech. People usually don't learn them separately, they learn the word in which they are used. We have already covered some of them in previous pages. We will take them up part by part. The ones marked blue are those we have seen already, in Bengali Consonants, Part two.

There's still a lot to cover, but many of them are rarely used, so we will focus on the most used first.
