Aeroacoustics is a branch of science which deals with aerodynamically generated noise. This is a relatively new branch of science which is known to be born by a celebrated paper of Sir James Lighhill in 1952. This paper, titled "On Sound Generated Aerodynamically. I. General Theory" was later proceeded by another Lighthill's original and ingenious paper , "On Sound Generated Aerodynamically. II. Turbulence as a Source of Sound" in 1954. These papers have been perhaps the most cited and well known papers among the aeroacoustic community.
